Diploma in Mental Well-Being of Vulnerable Children (DMVC)

Who is this course for?
This course is ideal for those working with or aspiring to support children in challenging environments, including teachers, NGO staff and volunteers, psychology and social work students and childcare workers and caregivers. Graduates will be equipped to identify, understand, and respond to children’s mental health needs with empathy and practical skills.
For almost half the world’s population, mental health conditions begin by age 14—yet most go undiagnosed and untreated. In India, the National Mental Health Survey (2015–2016) found that 7.3% of urban and 6.9% of rural adolescents (ages 13–17) live with mental health conditions. Factors like family dysfunction, poverty, violence, neglect and parental mental illness further increase vulnerability.
In response, BALM and Rainbow Homes, Hyderabad have collaboratively launched this diploma to prepare teachers, NGO staff, care-givers and child welfare professionals to support vulnerable children and promote their mental well-being.

Insightful assignments, alumni meets, scholarship events and seminars provided hands-on experience and valuable exposure to the ecosystem. The fact that it’s offered free—with travel and lunch support—makes it accessible to anyone with a genuine interest in this space.”
